Capture Your Family Legacy

In October of 2017 my Grandmother Noel passed away and is now in Heaven. It was very unexpected and she is greatly missed. When someone dies, all the family members gather together to collect and share photographs of their loved ones. Suddenly, photos are more valuable than ever before.

A few years after my Grandma died my Grandpa asked me to make an Urbanovich Family Legacy book. He wanted to remember all the good times and to be able to hold something physical that reminded him of his wife and the legacy they created together.

It was 2020 so I had nothing but time to make a Legacy Family Book for my Grandfather. Can I just say, IT TOOK SO MUCH WORK. Gathering photographs from all the Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins takes time. Also, I had to find photos from when my Grandparents were children and family photographs of their immediate families, too.

My Grandpa, his sisters, and brother were very present in the grandkids' lives when we were smaller. I always saw family photos of my Grandpa when he was a child with his whole family. These photographs are our family history and they tell a story. I’m so glad that Great Grandma Urbanovich-Fisher took the time to set up a family photoshoot. We have these photographs forever and their Legacy lives on.

My Grandma Noel’s childhood page in the Legacy book was MUCH HARDER. I couldn’t find ONE photo of her, her siblings, and her parents together. Not one! I searched high and low. I called all my great uncles who are still alive. I reached out to second cousins who may have one photo of the Pryor family. No one had a single photo of the whole family together. There were photographs of my Grandma as a child, one with her and one of brothers, but I couldn’t find one photo with the family together. How disappointing is that?

Although the Legacy Book came out wonderful, and I’m very glad I did it- I’m still sad that there is not one photo in our living history today of the Pryor Family from Brooklyn, NY together.

Why am I telling you this? Make sure you take time to capture your legacy! Sometimes we will put taking professional Family photos on hold. Why? The price, kids, a busy schedule or maybe you had a bad experience with a photographer and you never want to do it again. But family photos are so important. YOU are important. You’re investing not only in yourself, but you’re investing in generations to come. Your future great grandchildren will be able to put a face to a name. They will get to hear stories of you, your kids and they will feel a deeper connection to you.

You’re worth professional family photos and a photographer who desires to capture your beautiful family history in the making.

Create your legacy, capture your legacy, and share it with generations to come. It’s worth it.
